Wellness Check Service for Police

Police Car

Wellness check programs for police officers and administration are receiving increased focus within departments. These programs have demonstrated benefits such as reducing absenteeism, enhancing overall morale and well-being, improving retention rates, job performance, fostering better community relations, and facilitating quicker recovery from injuries, as mental health significantly impacts physical health.

Wellness check programs for police officers and administration are conducted by trained and licensed mental health professionals. These wellness checks are NOT therapy, nor are they intended to diagnose the individual or determine fitness for duty. Formal assessments will not be performed unless specifically requested by the officer during the wellness check. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for officers and administrative staff to discuss a range of topics, including stressors and positive experiences. If suitable, I will also share insights on warning signs of potential mental health issues and offer guidance on managing stress in healthy ways.

Wellness checks are entirely confidential. The police department covers the cost these checks, so the administration only receives the officer's full name and the date/time of the visit. Aside from that, all discussions between the police officer or administrative employee during the wellness checks remain private. A breach in confidentiality may be warranted under the following circumstances: expressed plan and intention with suicidal thinking; reasonable suspicion of child abuse or elder abuse (mandated reporter);

plan & intent to harm a named person.
